BirdBulb
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information BirdBulb collects when you visit this website or write to us, how it is used, and the choices you have. BirdBulb is operated by David Gonzalez Alonso in Texas.
Who we are
This website is run by BirdBulb, a business name (d/b/a) of David Gonzalez Alonso, a sole proprietor in Texas (“BirdBulb”, “we”, “us”). Send questions about this policy through our contact form.
What we collect
When you visit the site
- Server logs. Our hosting provider, Vercel, automatically records technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to run and secure the site.
- Fonts. Your browser loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address and browser information.
- Light or dark theme. If you choose a theme, that choice is saved in your own browser (local storage). It is not sent to us.
When you download the free coloring pages
- Your email address and, if you give it, your first name. We keep them privately with our hosting provider (Vercel) and in a private Google Sheet, and use them only to send you occasional news about new BirdBulb books and activities and, if you ask for it, a free drawing page every month. Every email has a way to unsubscribe, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.
When you write to us
- Your name, email address, the reason you’re writing and your message. They are saved in a private Google Sheet and emailed to us, and we use them only to answer you.
Google Analytics
- We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read, where they come from (for example a search or a link) and which buttons they use, such as the link to Amazon or the free download. It uses cookies and receives your IP address and browser information; Google does not give us your name or email.
- We use it only to understand and improve the site. We don’t use it for advertising, and we don’t sell this data.
- You can block it with your browser’s privacy settings or with Google’s opt-out add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Microsoft Clarity
- We use Microsoft Clarity to see how people use the site: where they click, how far they scroll and anonymous recordings of visits, so we can fix what’s confusing. Clarity uses cookies and receives your IP address and browser information. Text you type into forms is masked and never recorded.
- Microsoft handles this data under its privacy statement. We don’t use it for advertising.
We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies beyond Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.
How we use it
- To answer your messages.
- To send occasional news to people who downloaded our free pages, until they unsubscribe.
- To prevent fraud and keep the site secure.
- To comply with the law.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
Who we share it with
Only with the companies that help us run the site, and only what each one needs:
- Vercel, which hosts the website.
- Resend, which delivers messages sent through our contact form to our inbox.
- Google, which serves the site’s fonts, runs Google Analytics, and stores and delivers contact messages and sign-ups (Google Sheets and Gmail).
- Microsoft, which runs Clarity.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
Each of these companies handles information under its own privacy policy.
Links to other sites
The Bird in the Egg is sold on Amazon. We don’t sell books or take payments on this site. When you follow a link to Amazon, Instagram or YouTube, that site’s own privacy policy applies.
How long we keep it
We keep messages sent through the contact form only as long as we need them to answer you, and then we delete them.
Your choices
You can ask us to show, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by reaching us through our contact form. Depending on the state where you live, you may have additional privacy rights; we will honor them as required by law. We answer requests within 45 days.
Children
The Bird in the Egg is a book for children, but this website is meant for the adults who read it with them. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, reach us through our contact form and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we limit the information we keep and who can access it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
